The thirty-seven year old supermodel and host of popular reality television show Project Runway set sail on a fabulous, luxury yacht with her family of four children and superstar, singer husband Seal. The family boarded the impressively sized yacht in the South of France and cruised in style down the coast of Italy.
The yacht, dubbed Indian Empress, is listed as being one of the world’s largest motor super-yachts and is owned by Indian-born billionaire Vijay Mallya. Mallya is a liquor baron and is son of the industrialist Vittal Mallya. Vijay Mallya is the Chairman of the United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines, boasting an almost inconceivable net worth of over one billion dollars.
Mallya’s famed Indian Empress measures an amazing three hundred and eleven feet and can hold up to thirty-two guests accompanied by forty-two crew members. Inside the phenom-of-a-yacht hangs original masterpieces by the lauded Renoir and Chagall. The boat even sports a garage, which parked inside are two lovely Mercedes-Benz.
There are sixteen cabins spritzed over the three stories of the yacht, two of which are master-bedroom sized quarters. The bottom deck is primarily for guests, and every room includes panorama views of the ocean. The owner’s suite, which sits on the second level, has its own private deck with a jacuzzi. The interior of the Empress is extravagantly decorated with dark wood and golden accents adding an air of affluence to the ambiance of the boat. Overall the feel of the decor speaks to Mallya’s Indian heritage, with touches of Roman and Grecian elements sprinkled throughout the walls.
Once on board, the Klum-Seal clan can indulge in the Indian Empress’s many amenities, including a gym, salon, massage room, sauna, and steam room. Mallya even went has far as purchasing one of Elton John’s old baby grand pianos to add some flare to the ambiance of the ship. And if hopping into the ocean to wash up isn’t your cup of tea, the boat also has within it two shower rooms.
Mallya has filled his abundantly-sized yacht with plenty of toys to play with while cruising along the waves of the Mediterranean. The Empress offers up kayaks, windsurfers, sea scooters, waterskis, wake boards, and a load of fishing and scuba diving gear. Need to ship out early? No problem, the Empress has on a board its own helipad for the easy coming and going of guests.
The Indian Empress was first launched in 2000 under the sailing name of Al Mirqab, perhaps when it was owned by a member of the Qatari Royal Family who placed the massive boat on the market at a rumored price of around one hundred and thirteen million dollars. She is powered by three ten thousand horse-powered MTU, twenty cylinder engines and her three huge propellers enable her to reach top speeds of up to twenty-four knots, which converts into about forty-seven kmph. Mallya also owns what could be considered the Empress’s daughter yacht, named Indian Princess, which measures out to about half the Empress’s size, counting in at about one hundred and eighty feet.
The Klum-Seal clan rode the Indian Empress into Saint Jean Cap Ferrat where they anchored and debarked, only to then board another boat, the Vabene, with friends.
